Today’s Quote: I’ll tell them how I survive it. I’ll tell them that on bad mornings, it feels impossible to take pleasure in things because I’m afraid it could be taken away. That’s when I make a list in my head of every act of goodness I’ve seen someone do. It’s like a game. Repetitive. Even a little tedious after more than twenty years. But there are much worse games to play.

This last week was a little crazy and weird at the same time. In the mornings I went to university and basically our courses last until around 1 pm. After that we had the whole day free. But I wish I could’ve just came home and lay in bed. Wednesday, when I came home I had an amazing surprise. When I tried to turn the light on in the bedroom, my light bulb just stopped working. I tried to change it nothing. I already started panicking because I had no idea how to fix a broken installation. I called my father and he told me first to change the switcher. He explained to me step by step how to do it and to my surprise I actually managed to do it (I was very careful and while I was doing that I switched off electricity in the whole house). But it still wasn’t fixed. That meant there was a problem with the socket. I went to the general store and bought a light socket. I managed to change it after struggling with the short wires I have in my bedroom and after that it still didn’t work. Then my father told me that the problem is with the wires. It was already late so I was supposed to change the wires the next day. The next day I had to run some errands in the city and after that, on my way home my driving instructor called me to ask if I am available to take my class that day in half an hour because somebody cancelled their lesson that day. I accepted because I want to finish with driving soon, cause it seems like I am taking the driving classes since … forever. Of course I was late by 10 minutes because I got stuck in traffic. After my driving class I went again to the general store and bought some wires and I was lucky that the vendor game a tip about some connectors for electricity wires. While I was trying to get rid of the plastic over the copper wire, the old wire broke into my arms. I had literally just 2 cm of wire left in the ceiling. I managed to put the wire into the connector and mount the new wires with the socket. After two days of hard work and learning a lot of new things about wires and connectors and electricity I managed to make my lighting in my bedroom work again. I was so happy and relieved that I did it.
You might wonder why I did it myself. Well my experience with plumbers in Bucharest is that they charge a lot for so little they do. And I guess electricians do the same. So in three years, since I don’t have my father to fix things for me, when something from my plumbing broke, I learned how to fix it myself (of course minor problems, not changing the whole pipe or anything). So now since I didn’t wanted to pay an electrician a lot of money for changing some wires, I wanted to learn how to do it myself and I succeeded. I am very proud of myself regarding this matter, because it feels really good when you can fix something by yourself. I used to watch my father fixing things all the time while I was at home, and I enjoyed it very much. I was hoping one day I will get the chance to do that, so now I have it.
The rest of the week was all school and driving lessons and chatting with friends. I really enjoy this about university. But I hate what I am studying right now. I am into orthopedics until October 28th and it’s so boring. I hate it, there’s no logic in this subject. Only things that break. I can’t wait for it to finish, because next thing we’re studying is Pneumology and I am sure I will love it.
In the weekend, me and my group wanted to go bowling, but the weather was awful and since me and a colleague live kind of far from the meeting spot, we postponed for the next week. Today I met with the people I went in Slovenia with, and we laughed and catch up with everything we did this summer. It was amazing to see them again. I remembered how much fun we had in Slovenia and how much I enjoyed their company.
Also this weekend I managed to do a little work for my website. I added some tutorials for BELLABUZZ – the ask me script I am using. You will find there all the information you will need to get it installed and customized. Also I managed to add two graphic tutorials (click on the images to see the tutorials):

For this week this is all, I will tell you about my next week next Sunday. Take care and have an amazing week.

Wow, that’s amazing that you learn how to fix and do plumbing or other odd things like that by yourself. I’m glad that you succeeded in your endeavors to fix the wires ^^ That’s always a proud moment, honestly.

I’m glad that you had fun with your friends which you probably haven’t seen in a long time. I’m glad you’re updating and telling about your days and such. Much love <3

You’re lucky you had classes until 1PM! I would usually be stuck in class until the late evening XD. Congratulations on changing the switcher! Sounds complicated from what I read. I probably would’ve shocked myself in the meantime. It’s great that you learned how to handle problems yourself. You’re definitely learning some good independence skills. I remembered using Bellabuzz years ago! It’s a great ask me script :).

Wow. I wished I knew how to fix things myself. I guess I don’t have the patience like you. Good for you. Fixing the wiring and the plumbing. You even had time to do your driving class too.

I admire women who can do house chores for men. But that must be very tiring and it got you two days to fix it. Anyway, good job.

Wow, I’m glad you were able to fix the wire problem in your own home. I never did get into that sort of thing, even though I did help my dad a lot on repairing the house and cars i.e. holding the light, watching him work, and etc. I don’t think I really learned much by doing that. But, I am proud of you for not giving up!

It’s such a pain when things break, but it’s awesome you did it all on your own!

Glad you’re able to fix your wire problem. I’m kind of interested in learning some basic troubleshooting at home, but my dad was against it. Now that my brother has moved back, now my dad thinks that the house would be a lot more “in tip top shape.” Made me cringe a bit, but I guess that’s how fathers show their love for their daughters sometime. ^^

I used to use the Bellabuzz script several years ago. I’m actually a fan of Jem’s “Bella” scripts, especially Bellabuffs and Bellabook. Glad you’re able to get together with your long time friends. ^_^

That’s so awesome that you were able to fix it yourself. It can be really rewarding to solve those problems and not have to rely on other people. :D

I am so proud of you for being able to fix your bedroom lighting. It’s always cool to see girls do things that we usually ask guys to do.

I’m sorry that life has been stressful and I’m sorry that your class isn’t going well. I hope it gets better.

It’s always good to get together with old friends and I’m happy that you were able to get out and enjoy yourself.

Sorry for not replying! I think it’s great you’re getting to fix things yourself. It’s really important. Some of the switches for the power in the area I live are old, so they’re mislabeled and hard to read. I hate having to fix outlets and electrical anything, but it has to be done. Great tutorials! I hope you’re doing well.
